The day before her passing
I called my dear best friend
And asked her if she had some time
Some time for us to spend
She never paused one moment
Or gave a second thought
A characteristic I learned about friendship
One that Jenny taught
We are very blessed you see
When it comes to the word “best friend”
Not only is there Jen and I, with Stacy we make three
We laughed we talked while the children played their games
We watched the fireworks and their magnificent light
Though together just for one last time it will never be the same
But in Jenny’s words it was indeed a perfect night
That night I dropped you at your door
I hugged you told you I loved you
I wish the feeling that I had I didn’t just ignore
I would have held you tighter and begged you not to go
I would have done so many things
My love for you to show
And though this is goodbye for now
I know we’ll meet again
There is one promise to you I vow
My dearest and deepest friend
Though some might call you daughter, sister, or friend
Your son will always know……….
The angel he calls “Mom” for him I’ll surely show
Love Forever and Always....Alicia
